Guest Crown Art #19

Tiwalade Femi-Mapaderun makes a cheeky return for the nineteenth edition of the Crown Series. Guest Crown Art #19 is a clever and perfectly paced poem that will resonate with many of the youth, especially during this period. The genius of the poem lies in the big reveal at the very end. I don’t want to give away too much, read and find out!

Title : A New Season

There’s moment when its all quiet
And you wonder what is going on
The atmosphere begins to change
As the birds sing a new song
And the lizards nod in a new way

It’s all filled up – no space
Smiles disappear from faces
But do I like this serious look?
Can it be changed?

The silence of the graveyard
It cannot be compared to this  moment
I struggle to remember nights When the moon gives lovers a perfect light

In the dead of night, it’s all bright Love has gone to bed
The students get serious
This can only mean one thing
It’s exam season
