Creature Poetry: Clingy, The Butterfly’s Demise
This Butterfly’s Tale Will Leave You Speechless
I know this all too well
A life stage of sorts,
Prior to my demise.
The butterfly that held on.
I begin to feel too heavy
For the petals I rest on.
So I attempt to prove
To myself and to no one,
As no one might care,
That I have some sort of place,
That society would have me
Somewhere beyond these petals.

I remind myself that the hurt
Is more on her petals,
Than my broken wings.
That I could survive a few moments
Surrounded by the unfamiliar
And that I’d return
Unscathed and her petals would wait
So I take off
HAVE YOU READ?: LOVE IN FALLACY
Mid-flight I realize,
I would loathe it all.
Letting myself be surrounded
By all the things I left for her petals.
But I do not go back
For I have a fear so certain
I’d return to her and find
Some lighter, better-fitting,
Prettier version of me
Rest where I once called home
-Twinless Gemini.
